Scientific Background
Fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF19) is a secreted protein which belongs to the FGFs family. FGF19 is expressed in fetal brain, cartilage, retina, and adult gall bladder. FGFs modulate cellular activity via at least 5 distinct subfamilies of high-affinity FGF receptors (FGFRs): FGFR-1, -2, -3, and -4, all with intrinsic tyrosine kinase activity. FGFRs can be important for regulation of glucose and lipid homeostasis. FGF19 has important roles as a hormone produced in the ileum in response to bile acid absorption. It has been shown to cause resistance to diet-induced obesity and insulin desensitization and to improve insulin, glucose, and lipid profiles in diabetic rodents.

Safety & Handling
Research use only
This protein was produced in E. coli. Mammalian expression enables human-like glycosylation, correct disulfide bond formation, and proper protein folding — all critical for proteins used in binding interaction studies (SPR/BLI) and antibody characterisation. For transmembrane proteins expressed as ectodomains or nanodisc preparations, the expression system directly affects binding conformation and assay performance.
The expressed amino acid region is specified in the protein specifications table. Cross-reference with the UniProt entry (O95750) to confirm the expressed region includes your domain of interest — receptor-binding domain, extracellular domain, or specific epitope — before ordering.
Greater than 95% as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE.. A gel image showing the protein band is provided with each lot on the Certificate of Analysis. This high-purity specification is suitable for SPR/BLI kinetics measurements, ELISA standard curve development, and antibody epitope binding studies.
Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for reconstitution instructions for your specific lot. Storage: Store at -20°C to -80°C for 12 months in lyophilized form. After reconstitution, if not intended for use within a month, aliquot and store at -80°C (A Prepare single-use working aliquots after reconstitution to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Lyophilized protein is stable for 12 months at −80°C from the date of receipt.
