Scientific Background
Interferon omega-1 is also known as Interferon alpha-II-1and IFNW1. It is a Secreted protein that in humans is encoded by the IFNW1 gene. IFNW1 belongs to the alpha/beta interferon family. Type I IFNs consist of IFN a, β, τ, and ω and bind to the type I IFN receptor, whereas IFN-γ is the only type II IFN and is specific for the type II IFN receptor. IFNW1 is a recently discovered protein structurally related to IFN-alpha and –beta. It has been shown that IFN-omega 1 similar to that of other human class I IFNs; potent antiviral activity was also observed on cells of bovine and ovine but not of equine or murine origin.

Safety & Handling
Research use only
This protein was produced in Mammalian (HEK293). Mammalian expression enables human-like glycosylation, correct disulfide bond formation, and proper protein folding — all critical for proteins used in binding interaction studies (SPR/BLI) and antibody characterisation. For transmembrane proteins expressed as ectodomains or nanodisc preparations, the expression system directly affects binding conformation and assay performance.
The expressed amino acid region is specified in the protein specifications table. Cross-reference with the UniProt entry (P05000) to confirm the expressed region includes your domain of interest — receptor-binding domain, extracellular domain, or specific epitope — before ordering.
Greater than 95% as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE.. A gel image showing the protein band is provided with each lot on the Certificate of Analysis. This high-purity specification is suitable for SPR/BLI kinetics measurements, ELISA standard curve development, and antibody epitope binding studies.
Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis (CoA) for reconstitution instructions for your specific lot. Storage: Store at -20°C to -80°C for 12 months in lyophilized form. After reconstitution, if not intended for use within a month, aliquot and store at -80°C (A Prepare single-use working aliquots after reconstitution to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Lyophilized protein is stable for 12 months at −80°C from the date of receipt.
