Assay Principle
This sandwich ELISA quantifies human pro-neuropeptide Y (gene NPY) in cell culture supernatants, tissue, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA). Strips are pre-coated with a capture antibody. After the sample is added, a biotinylated detection antibody binds the captured protein, and an avidin–biotin–peroxidase complex supplies the enzyme. TMB develops color in proportion to the bound target; the reaction is stopped and read at 450 nm, and concentrations are read from the standard curve.
Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is a 36-amino-acid peptide and one of the most abundant neuropeptides in the brain, also released by sympathetic neurons. Acting through Y-family G protein-coupled receptors, it strongly stimulates food intake and also affects stress, anxiety, circadian rhythms and blood vessel tone. NPY is widely studied in energy balance and neuroscience.
