Compound Overview
Imatinib Impurity E is an impurity of Imatinib. Imatinib, also known as STI571, is an orally bioavailable tyrosine kinase inhibitor that selectively blocks BCR/ABL, v-Abl, PDGFR and c-kit kinase activity by binding near the ATP-binding site and locking the kinase into a closed, self-inhibited conformation, thereby inhibiting its enzymatic activity in a semicompetitive manner[1][2][3][4]. Imatinib is also reported to inhibit SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV[5]. The impurity is supplied as a light yellow to yellow solid (C52H48N12O2, MW 873.02) at 96.05% purity.

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with the Safety Data Sheet and your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
| Solvent | Solubility | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DMSO | 2 mg/mL (2.29 mM) | requires sonication and warming and heat to 60°C; use freshly opened DMSO (absorbed moisture lowers solubility) |
Aliquot the stock solution and store it at -80°C (up to 6 months) or -20°C (up to 1 month); avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
