Compound Overview
Kanokoside A, also known as Xiecaoiridoidside C, is an iridoid glycoside that can be found in the roots of Centranthus longiflorus ssp. longiflorus and in the roots and rhizomes of Valeriana amurensis. It shows weak cytotoxicity against gastric, liver and breast cancer cells[1][2].
It has the molecular formula C21H32O12 and a molecular weight of 476.47 g/mol.

Safety
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, and not for human or veterinary use. Handle in accordance with your institution's chemical hygiene plan.
In Vitro
Weak cytostatic/cytotoxic activity is seen with Kanokoside A (1-9 μg/mL) toward HM02 stomach carcinoma, HepG2 liver carcinoma, and MCF7 mammary carcinoma cell lines (GI50 of 1-9 μg/mL)[1]. At 5-25 μM for 24 h, Kanokoside A causes no toxicity in PC12 cells at concentrations up to 25 μM but fails to provide neuroprotection against Aβ1-42-induced injury in PC12 cells[2].
