LDN-57444 inhibits ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase UCH-L1, decreasing proteasome activity and increasing levels of ubiquitinated proteins. It induces apoptosis and alters synaptic protein distribution and spine morphology. This compound is widely used in neuroscience to study synaptic plasticity, neurodegenerative disease progression, and protein homeostasis.
