Compound Overview
Lys-psi(CH2NH)-Trp(Nps)-OMe, also known as LTNAM, is a lysine-tryptophan (Nps) pseudodipeptide analog formed by replacing the peptide bond of the Lys-Trp(Nps) molecule with an aminomethylene bond, giving it analgesic activity. After intracerebroventricular administration in mice, it produces analgesia that is dose-dependent, reversible by naloxone, and longer-lasting than that of the parent compound. In rat striatal slices, it shields methionine enkephalin from degradation and binds low-dose opioid peptides to generate analgesia, and it also blocks brain aminopeptidase activity in both in vitro and in vivo settings. Its greater resistance to proteolysis compared with the parent pseudodipeptide may account for this prolonged analgesic effect. It has the molecular formula C24H31N5O4S and a molecular weight of 485.60 g/mol.
