Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a bioactive lipid that acts through G-protein-coupled receptors to regulate cell proliferation, migration, and survival. In neuroscience, LPA signaling is implicated in neurodevelopment, synaptic plasticity, and neuroinflammation. Dysregulation of LPA pathways has been associated with neurodegenerative diseases and traumatic brain injury. Sodium salt forms of LPA are used in experimental models to study receptor-mediated signaling and its impact on neuronal and glial cell function. LPA’s role in modulating neuroimmune interactions and promoting neural regeneration makes it a key molecule in neurobiology research.
