Lyticase is a specialized enzyme preparation for hydrolyzing yeast cell walls, widely used in downstream applications such as genome research, yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) extraction, yeast transformation, protoplast preparation, yeast cell disruption, industrial fermentation, and yeast inactivation.
This product is supplied in liquid form at a concentration of 10 U/μL, with a typical working concentration of 0.15 U/μL. The optimal concentration should be adjusted according to your specific application, yeast strain, and cell density. For genomic DNA or plasmid DNA extraction, please follow the recommended concentration in the corresponding kit protocol.

Glycerol Content: Contains Glycerol
Store this enzyme at -20°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve catalytic activity. The product is shipped Dry Ice and remains stable for up to one year from the date of manufacture when stored under recommended conditions. Aliquoting the stock solution into single-use volumes is recommended for enzymes used infrequently to minimize thermal cycling of the bulk stock.
This enzyme is validated for use in NGS Library Preparation applications. It is suitable for use in both standard laboratory research settings and, where applicable, optimized reaction workflows requiring high specificity, sensitivity, or throughput.
Activity is expressed in lysate units (LU) or U/mg, defined as the amount of enzyme that produces a defined reduction in optical density (OD₆₀₀) of a bacterial suspension per minute under standard assay conditions.
This enzyme is produced as Recombinant (E. coli) and supplied as a Research Use Only (RUO) reagent. Each lot is subjected to activity assay, purity assessment by SDS-PAGE, and functional validation prior to release. A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) are available on request.
Lytic enzymes such as lysozyme cleave the β-1,4-glycosidic linkage between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine in bacterial peptidoglycan cell walls, releasing intracellular contents for downstream nucleic acid or protein extraction. Mutanolysin targets β-1,4-glycosidic bonds in the muramidase substrate of Gram-positive bacteria resistant to lysozyme. Enzyme lysis is typically gentler than mechanical disruption and reduces shear-induced DNA fragmentation.
