Scientific Background
Marburg Virus (MARV) is a filovirus classified as a BSL-4 agent and causes Marburg virus disease with case fatality rates up to 88%. MARV is antigenically and phylogenetically distinct from Ebola viruses, and its glycoprotein (GP) is the primary target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccine development. Due to BSL-4 containment requirements, safe pseudovirus systems are essential for studying MARV entry and developing countermeasures.
Product Description
Filovirus
This HA-MARV VLP is a hybrid alpha-pseudovirus assembled from MARV structural proteins (GP, VP40, NP) with an alphavirus-derived reporter RNA payload. Based on the MARV001 isolate (GenBank: OL702894.1). BSL-2 safe. Available with Firefly luciferase, GFP, or RFP reporter. Validated in VeroE6 cells.

Safety & Handling
This HA-MARV VLP is based on the MARV001 isolate, with the reference sequence deposited in GenBank under accession OL702894.1. The MARV001 isolate GP is used for constructing the pseudovirus.
VeroE6 cells are validated for HA-MARV transduction per the IBT Bioservices datasheet. Reporter expression was confirmed at 24 hours post-transduction using both luciferase (plate reader) and GFP (flow cytometry) formats.
MARV and EBOV belong to the same Filoviridae family but are antigenically distinct — anti-EBOV antibodies generally do not cross-neutralize MARV. Use HA-MARV for MARV-specific countermeasure research, and pair with HA-EBOV (BHV20900042) when evaluating pan-filovirus antibodies.
