Concentration Assay Kit

Polymyxins are polypeptide antibiotics. By binding lipopolysaccharide (LPS), they disrupt bacterial membranes and are used to treat Gram-negative infections. Because they make bacterial membranes more permeable, they are also used to boost the release of secreted toxins from bacteria.

Kit Components

Component MPX200
Reagent PMX1 6 ml
Reagent PMX2 6 ml

Assay Principle

The fluorescence of the assay reagent at 535 nm (excitation 485 nm) increases in the presence of polymyxins. The signal is linear with polymyxin concentration, and unknowns are read from a standard curve.
