Copper (Cu2+) is an essential metal ion needed by enzymes such as amine oxidase and galactose oxidase. Low copper is linked to disorders including anemia, hypotonia, depigmentation and bone changes, and copper levels are relevant to research on disorders such as Wilson's disease.
Kit Components
| Component | MCA1000 |
|---|---|
| 1000 x MCA dye | 100 µl |
| 1 mM CuCl2 standard | 30 µl |
The kit covers 1000 assays in 384-well plates (30 µl sample) or 300 assays in 96-well plates (100 µl sample).
Assay Principle
The MCA dye binds copper selectively, which lowers its fluorescence at 535 nm (excitation 485 nm). The Fo / Fc ratio (signal without copper over signal with copper) is linear with copper concentration.
