EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is a widely used chelating agent in biochemistry. It should be kept out of Ni-column protein purification and out of enzyme reactions that need divalent cations such as magnesium, calcium or zinc.
Kit Components
| Component | EDTA200 |
|---|---|
| 100 x C56 dye | 200 µl |
| 1 mM EDTA standard | 1000 µl |
Assay Principle
The fluorescence of the C56 dye at 535 nm (excitation 485 nm) increases in the presence of EDTA. The signal is linear with EDTA concentration, and unknowns are read from a standard curve.
