Mitomycin C is a DNA crosslinking agent that undergoes reductive activation followed by sequence-specific alkylation. It is used in neuroscience to induce DNA damage and study cellular responses such as apoptosis and repair mechanisms. Its potent genotoxic effects make it a valuable compound for modeling neurodegenerative processes involving DNA integrity.
