Inhibitors

Compound Overview

MKA031 is a non-competitive inhibitor of MIF, with an IC50 of 1.7 μM. It interferes with the MIF/AIF interaction, MIF nuclear translocation, and N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG)-induced cell death, and it can be used to study chronic hepatitis C virus infection[1]. It is supplied as an off-white to light yellow solid (C21H17N5O2S, MW 403.46) at 98.69% purity.

In Vitro

SolventSolubilityNotes
DMSO25 mg/mL (61.96 mM)requires sonication and warming and heat to 60°C; use freshly opened DMSO (absorbed moisture lowers solubility)

Aliquot the stock solution and store it at -80°C (up to 6 months) or -20°C (up to 1 month); avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Data provided by the manufacturer.

In Vitro

MKA031 (1-100 μl; 3 h) protects against MNNG-induced cell death[1]. MKA031 (100 μl;3 h) protects genomic DNA by blocking MIF recruitment to AIF[1].
