Assay Principle
This EZ-Set™ kit supplies a matched capture and detection antibody pair and a standard for building your own sandwich ELISA for mouse galectin-1 (gene Lgals1) in cell culture supernatants, cell lysates, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA). You coat the plate with the capture antibody, add samples and standards, detect with the biotinylated antibody and an avidin–biotin–peroxidase complex, develop with TMB and read at 450 nm. Plates, diluents, wash buffer, TMB and stop solution are not included.
Galectin-1 (LGALS1) is a small β-galactoside-binding lectin that is secreted and found both inside and outside cells. By cross-linking glycoproteins on the cell surface, it regulates cell adhesion, proliferation and apoptosis, and it strongly dampens T-cell responses, including by inducing apoptosis of activated T cells. Galectin-1 is studied in immune regulation, angiogenesis and tumor immune evasion.
