In Vitro
In brain micro vascular endothelial cells (BMVECs) and in Endothelial cells.3 (bEnd.3) of brain origin, Muscarine tosylate (100 μM) induces an intracellular calcium signal of an amplitude similar to that triggered by 10 μM acetylcholine[1]. In a sub-population of cells in the nucleus raphe magnus (NRM) that contain 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), Muscarine tosylate (1-30 μM; 2 min) produces a dose-dependent hyperpolarization on the NRM neurons, with an EC50 value of 2.7 μM[2].
