NSC 663284 is a potent, cell-permeable, and irreversible inhibitor of the CDC25 phosphatase family, including CDC25A, CDC25B, and CDC25C. While primarily studied in oncology for its role in cell cycle regulation and tumor suppression, its mechanism of action—targeting cell cycle checkpoints—has implications in neurodegenerative disease research. Aberrant cell cycle re-entry is a hallmark of neuronal death in disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, making CDC25 inhibition a potential neuroprotective strategy.
