Scientific Background

JUN is the putative transforming gene of avian sarcoma virus 17. It encodes a protein which is highly similar to the viral protein, and which interacts directly with specific target DNA sequences to regulate gene expression. This gene is intronless and is mapped to 1p32-p31, a chromosomal region involved in both translocations and deletions in human malignancies.

Alternative Names

JUN; Transcription factor AP-1; Activator protein 1; AP1; Proto-oncogene c-Jun; V-jun avian sarcoma virus 17 oncogene homolog; p39

Safety & Handling

⚠ Research Use Only (RUO). Not approved for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Handle with standard laboratory safety precautions. Contains sodium azide — avoid contact with skin/eyes; dispose per local regulations.

What species does this antibody react with?
This antibody has been validated for reactivity against Human, Mouse, Rat. Actual cross-reactivity is determined by immunogen sequence homology across species. Contact technical support for unlisted species.
What applications has this antibody been validated for?
Validated applications include: Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP), ELISA. Each application was tested with positive and negative controls. Contact our team regarding applications not listed.
How was this antibody produced and purified?
This polyclonal IgG antibody was raised in rabbit against a synthesized target-specific peptide. It was affinity-purified from antiserum using an epitope-specific immunogen, yielding a highly specific antibody suitable for multiple research applications.
What is the expected molecular weight of JUN?
The predicted molecular weight of JUN is ~35.7 kDa. Band size may vary slightly depending on post-translational modifications and gel percentage.
What storage conditions does this antibody require?
Store at −20°C for long-term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Working aliquots can be stored at 4°C for short-term use. The formulation includes 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant.
Is this antibody specific for the phosphorylated form of JUN?
Yes. This antibody is designed to detect JUN only at the phosphorylation site specified in the product name. Lambda phosphatase treatment eliminates the signal, confirming phospho-specificity.
