In Vitro
In the disk diffusion assay, (+)-Tuberine (0.1, 1 μg/mL; 37°C; 24-48 h) suppresses the growth of S. aureus, B. subtilis, and E. coli; at 1 μg/mL, the inhibition zones measure 10-15 mm against S. aureus and B. subtilis and 2-5 mm against E. coli[1]. In the liquid culture plate count assay, (+)-Tuberine (1 μg/mL; 37°C; 24 h) significantly suppresses B. subtilis and S. aureus growth, bringing both below 106 CFU/mL at 24 h, but has only weak inhibitory effects on E. coli[1]. In turbidity assays, (+)-Tuberine (0.1, 1 μg/mL; 37°C; 12 h) suppresses B. subtilis, E. coli, and S. aureus, with inhibition rates of 84%, 48%, and 85% at 0.1 μg/mL and 86%, 50%, and 94% at 1 μg/mL[1]. In the disc diffusion assay, (+)-Tuberine (0.1, 1 μg/mL; 37°C; 24-48 h) suppresses the growth of S. cerevisiae, with an inhibition zone of 6-10 mm at 1 μg/mL[1]. In liquid culture plate counting assays, (+)-Tuberine (1 μg/mL; 37°C; 24 h) inhibits the growth of S. cerevisiae[1]. In turbidity assays, (+)-Tuberine (0.1, 1 μg/mL; 37°C; 12 h) gives inhibition rates of 84% and 91% against S. cerevisiae[1].
