Protein Stability Assay Kit

Thermal stability and unfolding aggregation are used to compare proteins, for example wild-type and mutant forms. Unfolded (denatured) proteins expose more hydrophobic surface than native proteins.

Kit Components

Component PSA200K
1000 x PSA dye 60 µl

Enough for more than 200 assays with a 0.3 ml assay volume.

Assay Principle

The PSA dye binds hydrophobic protein surfaces and fluoresces at 610 nm (excitation 550 nm). Unfolded protein gives a higher signal than native protein at the same concentration, so heating time courses give a thermal unfolding curve and half-life (t1/2), and a native / unfolded reference pair gives the percentage of unfolded protein in a sample.

Safety & Handling

For Research Use Only (RUO). Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. The Protein Stability and Aggregation Assay Kit is shipped frozen. Follow standard laboratory safety practices when handling the reagents. Please contact us to confirm storage conditions.
Q.What does this kit measure?
A.It measures protein thermal unfolding, giving a half-life (t1/2) at a chosen temperature, and the percentage of unfolded protein in a sample, using a dye that binds exposed hydrophobic surfaces.
Q.What is included in the kit?
A.The Protein Stability and Aggregation Assay Kit (200 assays) includes 1000 x PSA dye (60 µl).
Q.Is a protocol available?
A.Yes. The manufacturer's protocol (Protein stability and aggregation Assay, linked under Documents) covers catalog # PSA200K.
Q.How should the kit be stored?
A.The Protein Stability and Aggregation Assay Kit is shipped frozen. Please contact us for long-term storage conditions.
