Product Overview
F4/80 is a 160 kD glycoprotein. It is characterized as a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-transmembrane 7 (TM7) family. F4/80, also known as EMR1 or Ly71, has been widely used as a murine macrophage marker, which is expressed on the majority of tissue macrophages including peritoneal macrophages, macrophages in lung, gut, thymus and red pulp of spleen (but not on the macrophages located in T cell areas of the spleen, lymph node and Peyer's patch), Kuffer cells, Langerhans cells, and bone marrow stromal cells. F4/80 has also been shown on a subset of dendritic cells. The biological ligand of F4/80 has not been identified, but it has been reported that F4/80 is required for induction of CD8+ T cells-mediated peripheral tolerance.

Species Reactivity & Cross-Reactivity
Validated for: Mouse. Verify suitability in your sample type prior to use. For species or applications not listed in the datasheet, consult our technical team before purchase.
Storage & Handling
Store at 4°C valid for 12 months or -20°C valid for long term storage, avoid freeze / thaw cycles.
Storage Buffer: Phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.05% non-protein stabilizer. Dialyze to completely remove the stabilizer prior to labeling.

This antibody is validated for flow cytometry applications. For intracellular targets, fix and permeabilize cells using a validated fixation/permeabilization kit (e.g., BD Cytofix/Cytoperm or similar) before staining. For surface markers, stain live or fixed cells without permeabilization. Always include a matched isotype control (Rat IgG2b, κ, Rat origin) at the same protein concentration as the test antibody to establish non-specific binding thresholds. Recommended starting dilution/concentration: FCM 2 μg/mL(0.5×106-1×106 cells).
This antibody has been experimentally validated in: Mouse. Cross-reactivity with other species has not been systematically evaluated. If your sample species is not listed, assess immunogen sequence homology to your target species ortholog. The immunogen used is: "Recombinant Mouse F4/80 protein" — higher sequence identity between species increases the probability of cross-reactivity, but experimental validation with appropriate controls is necessary before drawing scientific conclusions.
Store at 4°C valid for 12 months or -20°C valid for long term storage, avoid freeze / thaw cycles. Storage Buffer: Phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.05% non-protein stabilizer. Dialyze to completely remove the stabilizer prior to labeling.. To maintain antibody activity, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Aliquot into single-use volumes before first freeze. If working with the antibody frequently, keep a working stock at 4°C for up to 4 weeks — add 0.02% sodium azide to the working stock as a bacteriostatic agent if azide is not already present in the buffer. Monitor performance against a validated positive control when transitioning between storage aliquots or lots.
This monoclonal antibody (clone CI:A3-1) provides highly consistent, epitope-specific recognition of F4/80, making it ideal for quantitative assays, multiplex panels, and studies requiring strict reproducibility across experiments and independent laboratories. Unlike polyclonal preparations, each production batch from a single hybridoma clone generates antibody with identical epitope specificity, affinity, and isotype — ensuring reliable signal comparison in longitudinal studies or multi-site collaborations. When citing this antibody in publications, include the clone designation (clone CI:A3-1) to enable third-party reproducibility verification.
Customization & Add-ons: Can't find the antibody you need—or require a custom format for your assay? We can help you source the best match or support custom antibody solutions for diverse research needs, including species and isotype selection, conjugations and labeling (e.g., HRP/AP, biotin, fluorophores), purification grade options (Protein A/G, affinity purified), formulation preferences (buffer selection, carrier-free, glycerol-free), custom concentrations and aliquoting, low-endotoxin options for cell-based work, and application-focused QC/validation support (project dependent).
