Ready-to-Load Liposomes

Product Overview

Ready-to-Load DPPC Liposomes with Ammonium Tartrate are non-PEGylated liposomes with ammonium tartrate encapsulated inside for remote (pH-gradient) loading of drug molecules that contain amine groups, such as doxorubicin and ciprofloxacin. Loading is completed by incubating the drug with the liposomes at 48°C for 3 hours, at a typical drug-to-lipid ratio of 1:5 to 1:20.

The lipid composition is DPPC : cholesterol = 1.9 : 1 (w/w), at a total lipid concentration of 10 mg/ml; the internal ammonium tartrate concentration is 300 mM. The liposomes are supplied in 10 mM histidine, pH 6.5, 9.2% sucrose.

Safety & Handling

For Research Use Only (RUO). Not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Follow standard laboratory safety practices.
Q.Which drugs can be loaded?
A.Drug molecules that contain at least one amine group can potentially be loaded, for example doxorubicin and ciprofloxacin. Loading capacity depends on the drug.
Q.How is the drug loaded?
A.Mix the drug with the liposomes and incubate at 48°C for 3 hours; a typical drug-to-lipid ratio is 1:5 to 1:20.
Q.What is the lipid composition?
A.DPPC : cholesterol = 1.9 : 1 (w/w), at 10 mg/ml total lipid.
Q.Is a protocol available?
A.Yes. The ProFoldin protocol “Ready-to-load DPPC Liposomes with Ammonium Tartrate” is linked under Documents.
Q.How is it shipped and stored?
A.Shipped cold (not frozen). Store at 2–8°C. Do not freeze.
