Product Overview
Recombinant CVB3 VP1 Protein, C-His is a recombinant VP1 capsid protein of coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3), expressed in E. coli as a fragment of the viral genome polyprotein with a C-terminal His tag. The construct spans Gly571-Phe854 of the CVB3 genome polyprotein (UniProt P03313) and has a predicted molecular weight of 32.53 kDa. It is supplied lyophilized at >90% purity as determined by SDS-PAGE.
The manufacturer lists ELISA, use as an immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot as applications. Bioactivity testing is stated by the manufacturer as in progress, so no functional activity data are provided for this product.
Expression system: E. coli · Tag: C-His
About the Construct
CVB3 translates its genome as a single polyprotein that is cleaved into structural and non-structural proteins. In the UniProt reference entry P03313, the capsid proteins VP4, VP2, VP3 and VP1 are all derived from the P1 region, and capsid protein VP1 occupies residues 571-851. The expressed range Gly571-Phe854 therefore contains the full VP1 chain and extends three residues (852-854) past its annotated C-terminus, into the start of protease 2A.
The accession cited by the manufacturer, UniProt P03313, is the genome polyprotein entry for the Nancy strain of CVB3.

Reconstitution
The protein is shipped as a lyophilized powder and is dissolved in sterile water before use. Choose the water volume so that the final stock matches the concentration printed on the vial label or datasheet.
- Bring the vial and the sterile water to room temperature before you start.
- Before opening, spin the vial down briefly or tap it, so that any powder on the cap or walls collects at the bottom.
- Add water at the volume and stock concentration given on the datasheet. If you need a more concentrated stock than recommended, contact us first.
- Close the vial and mix by gentle inversion or on a slow rocker until the liquid has wetted all inner surfaces. Do not vortex and do not pipette the solution up and down.
- Let the vial stand at room temperature for 15 minutes or more, agitating gently, before you aliquot or use it.
- Split the stock into single-use aliquots of 10 μL or more in polypropylene or siliconized tubes.
Storage & Shipping
| Stability and storage | Keep at 2-8°C when the protein is in frequent use; for longer storage keep it at -20 to -80°C, where it is stable for up to twelve months from receipt. Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |
|---|---|
| Shipping | Proteins normally ship on dry ice or blue ice. Other shipping conditions can be arranged on request. |
Safety & Handling
Handle as a laboratory reagent and consult the linked SDS before use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the reconstituted protein.
