Overview

GATA-3 (GATA binding protein 3) is a member of the GATA family of transcription factors. This 50kDa nuclear protein regulates the development and subsequent maintenance of a variety of human tissues, including hematopoietic cells, skin, kidney, mammary gland, and the central nervous system. Among several other roles, GATA-3 involved in luminal cell differentiation in the mammary gland and appears to control a set of genes involved in the differentiation and proliferation of breast cancer. The expression of GATA-3 is associated with the expression of estrogen receptor-alpha (ER) in breast cancer. GATA-3 has been shown to be a novel marker for bladder cancer. The study demonstrated that GATA-3 stained 67% of urothelial Carcinomas, but none of prostate or renal carcinomas.

This anti-GATA3 antibody is supplied as Purified (Rabbit, Recombinant Rabbit Monoclonal, clone GATA3/4550R, Rabbit IgG, kappa, Unconjugated) and is designed to support common target-detection workflows after the on-page specifications.

Key elements and design rationale

  • Target: GATA3
  • Format: Purified
  • Localization: Nuclear
  • Species reactivity: Human, Rat
  • Applications (listed): IHC-P, WB
  • Conjugate: Unconjugated
  • Clone and antibody class: Recombinant Rabbit Monoclonal, clone GATA3/4550R, Rabbit IgG, kappa

Because antibody performance can depend on epitope context, sample preparation, and biological state, interpret signals using appropriate controls and orthogonal evidence when possible.

Biological background

GATA3 is referenced in public gene/protein resources (e.g., UniProt and NCBI Gene), which provide curated names/synonyms, protein features, and pathway context. When designing assays, consider potential isoforms, post-translational modifications, and cell-type specific expression that may influence observed signal.

Research relevance and current trends

  • Profiling GATA3 expression across model systems, perturbations, and time points to support mechanistic hypotheses.
  • Combining antibody-based detection with multi-omics or imaging readouts to link GATA3 signal with phenotype.
  • Using well-matched controls (isotype controls, genetic perturbations, or independent reagents) to strengthen interpretation of target-associated signal.

Common research applications

  • IHC-P
  • WB

Use the listed applications as a starting point and tailor experimental design to your sample type and readout requirements.

Notes for experimental interpretation

  • Specificity considerations: closely related family members, isoforms, or PTMs can affect apparent specificity; confirm with independent approaches when critical.
  • Controls: include negative controls and, when feasible, genetic or pharmacologic perturbations to support target attribution in your system.
  • Species and sample context: differences in sequence, expression, fixation, or extraction conditions can change signal behavior across models.
