Scientific Background
Human AGO2/Argonaute 2/EIF2C2 Protein — also known as Argonaute 2; EIF2C2; Q10 — Argonaute 2 (AGO2), also known as Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2C2 (EIF2C2), belongs to the Argonaute family, AGO subfamily, which is a component of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) and mediates small interfering RNA (siRNA)-directed mRNA cleavage and microRNA translational suppression. AGO2 protein is the catalytic engine of mammalian RNAi. It contains a PIWI domain that is structurally related to RNases H and possibly shares with them a two-metal-ion catalysis mechanism. Human AGO2 was unable to cleave preformed RNA duplexes and exhibited weaker binding affinity for RNA d
Research into Human AGO2/Argonaute 2/EIF2C2 Protein supports investigations in cellular signaling and fundamental cell biology, with implications for epigenetics & gene regulation.
Product Description
Baculovirus-Insect CellsN-His
Produced in Baculovirus-Insect Cells, yielding a high-purity non-glycosylated form suitable for structural and biochemical applications.
The N-His enables single-step affinity purification and can also serve as a handle for direct detection using anti-tag antibodies without target-specific reagents.
Expression region: Met 1-Ala 859.

This protein is produced in baculovirus-infected insect cells. Baculovirus/insect expression provides intermediate post-translational modifications between bacterial and mammalian systems.
Purity: > 85% as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE., confirmed by reducing SDS-PAGE. Endotoxin level: < 1.0 EU per μg of the protein as determined by the LAL method., measured by LAL assay — critical for cell-based studies. Identity is verified by peptide mapping or N-terminal sequencing on request.
Yes — biological activity is confirmed per lot. Activity data: Human AGO2 can bind Let-7a RNA and cleave target RNA (21nt).. Run a titration in your own system to establish optimal working concentration before committing all samples.
Reconstitution: Please refer to the printed manual for detailed information.. Storage: Generally, lyophilized proteins are stable for up to 12 months when stored at -20 to -80℃. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 4-8℃ for 2-. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw — each cycle risks partial denaturation.
This protein is validated for ELISA, Functional Assay (In Vitro). It is commonly used as an ELISA standard, binding partner in SPR/BLI, or stimulant in cell-based functional assays. Validate performance in your specific format before use in critical experiments.
