Product Overview
Recombinant Human IL-17 (IL-17A) Protein is a tag-free, glycosylated protein expressed in human cells. It is made in an animal-free, xeno-free format and supplied lyophilized from a 0.2 µm-filtered PBS solution without carrier protein, with purity >95% by SDS-PAGE and endotoxin <0.5 EU/µg.
IL-17A is a strong pro-inflammatory cytokine used to study inflammation and immune responses, the development of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis, and its effects on tumor growth and metastasis. It is also used in drug-discovery research on inflammatory disease. The manufacturer expresses this human protein in human cells, with extremely low endotoxin and high purity.
Expression system: Human cells · Tag-free · Animal-free
Scientific Background
IL-17 is a family of structurally related cytokines that share a highly conserved C-terminal region but differ in their N-terminal regions and in their biological roles. IL-17 (IL-17A) is secreted by activated T cells, including Th17 cells, as a homodimer of two 136-amino-acid chains.
IL-17A induces stromal cells to produce proinflammatory and hematopoietic cytokines and increases surface expression of ICAM1 (intercellular adhesion molecule 1) on fibroblasts.
Research Applications
IL-17A is used mainly in inflammation, autoimmunity and cancer research; the main research areas are listed below.
- Inflammation: IL-17A as a strong pro-inflammatory cytokine in the inflammatory response.
- Autoimmune disease: development of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and related conditions.
- Cancer research: effects of IL-17A on tumor growth and metastasis.
- Drug discovery: IL-17A as a target in inflammatory disease research.

Biological Activity & Quality Control
Biological activity is measured by the ability of the protein to induce IL-6 expression in NHDF adult fibroblasts.
Lot-specific activity and purity data are provided on the Certificate of Analysis (CoA), available from BioHippo on request.
Reconstitution
- Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening.
- Reconstitute in sterile PBS containing 0.1% endotoxin-free recombinant human serum albumin.
- Store the reconstituted protein under sterile conditions at 2°C to 8°C for up to 1 month, or at −20°C to −80°C for up to 3 months.
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles; a manual-defrost freezer is recommended.
Storage & Shipping
| Storage | As supplied: −20°C to −80°C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 2°C to 8°C for up to 1 month, or −20°C to −80°C for up to 3 months, under sterile conditions. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. |
