Product Overview
Recombinant Human M-CSF Protein (macrophage colony-stimulating factor) is a tag-free, full-length human M-CSF expressed in human cells and supplied as a glycosylated homodimer. It is produced in an animal-free, xeno-free format and lyophilized from a 0.2 µm-filtered PBS solution without carrier protein, with purity >95% by SDS-PAGE and endotoxin <0.5 EU/µg.
M-CSF is used to study hematopoiesis, particularly proliferation, differentiation and survival of monocytes, macrophages and bone-marrow progenitors, as well as innate immune responses and tissue repair processes such as wound healing and bone remodeling. Its activity is confirmed by stimulation of murine M-NFS-60 cell proliferation.
Expression system: Human cells · Tag-free · Animal-free
Scientific Background
Macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) is a hematopoietic factor produced by many cell types, including lymphocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, myoblasts, monocytes and osteoblasts.
It controls the proliferation, differentiation and survival of monocytes, macrophages and bone-marrow progenitor cells, and it takes part in regulating innate immunity and in tissue repair and bone remodeling.
Research Applications
Recombinant human M-CSF is a growth factor for monocyte, macrophage and immunology research.
- Hematopoiesis research on proliferation and differentiation of monocytes and macrophages.
- Studies of innate immune responses.
- Tissue repair and regeneration research, including wound healing and bone remodeling.
- Drug-discovery studies in inflammatory disease and tissue regeneration.

Biological Activity & Quality Control
Biological activity is measured by the ability of the protein to stimulate proliferation of murine M-NFS-60 cells, a mouse myeloid leukemia indicator cell line.
Lot-specific activity and purity data are provided on the Certificate of Analysis (CoA), available from BioHippo on request.
Reconstitution
- Briefly centrifuge the vial before opening.
- Reconstitute in sterile PBS containing 0.1% endotoxin-free recombinant human serum albumin.
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles; a manual defrost freezer is recommended for storage.
Storage & Shipping
| Storage | As supplied: −20°C to −80°C for up to 12 months from receipt. After reconstitution: 2°C to 8°C for up to 1 month, or −20°C to −80°C for up to 3 months, under sterile conditions. Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. |
