Product Overview
Recombinant LASV Nucleoprotein Protein, N-His & C-His is a recombinant nucleoprotein (NP) of Lassa virus, expressed in E. coli with a His tag at each terminus. The manufacturer gives the expressed range as Met1-Leu569. It is supplied lyophilized at >90% purity as determined by SDS-PAGE.
The manufacturer lists ELISA, use as an immunogen, SDS-PAGE and Western blot as applications. Bioactivity testing is stated by the manufacturer as in progress, so no functional activity data are provided for this product. No predicted molecular weight is stated for this product; confirm the band size on your own SDS-PAGE.
Expression system: E. coli · Tag: N-His & C-His
Background
Lassa virus (LASV) is a mammarenavirus and the agent of Lassa fever, which is endemic in parts of West Africa. Its genome is divided between two ambisense RNA segments: the S segment encodes the nucleoprotein and the glycoprotein precursor, and the L segment encodes the polymerase and the Z protein. Recombinant LASV proteins are used as coating antigens in ELISA, as immunogens for antibody production, and as reference material in SDS-PAGE and Western blot.
The nucleoprotein is the most abundant protein in arenavirus particles and in infected cells. It coats the viral RNA to form the ribonucleoprotein complex that the polymerase uses as its template. Because it is abundant and strongly immunogenic, arenavirus nucleoprotein is a common antigen in serological assays and a frequent immunogen for raising detection antibodies.
About the Construct
The expressed range is given by the manufacturer as Met1-Leu569, numbered on UniProt accession P13699. Use that accession as the reference when comparing this product with the same target from another supplier. The His tags are additional sequence at each terminus and are not part of the stated range.

Reconstitution
Reconstitute in sterile water for a stock solution. The manufacturer does not state a concentration for this product, so choose the volume of sterile water that gives the stock concentration your assay needs. If the product label or datasheet gives a recommended value, follow that instead.
Reconstitution protocol
- Let the product and the reconstitution diluent reach room temperature.
- Tap or briefly centrifuge the vial before opening to bring down any lyophilized material on the wall or cap.
- If the product datasheet gives a recommended diluent and stock concentration, follow it. If you need a more concentrated stock than it recommends, contact us.
- After adding the diluent, re-cap the vial and invert gently by hand, or place it on a slow rocking platform, so the diluent coats all inner surfaces. Do not mix by vortexing or by pipetting up and down.
- Let the vial sit at room temperature with gentle agitation for at least 15 minutes before aliquoting or use.
- Store the reconstituted material in single-use aliquots in polypropylene or siliconized tubes. Aliquots of 10 μL or larger are recommended.
Storage & Shipping
| Stability and storage | Use a manual defrost freezer and avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles. Store at 2 to 8°C for frequent use. Store at -20 to -80°C for twelve months from the date of receipt. |
|---|---|
| Shipping | In general, proteins are provided as lyophilized powder/frozen liquid. They are shipped out with dry ice/blue ice unless customers require otherwise. |
Safety & Handling
This product is a recombinant protein expressed in E. coli; it contains no live or inactivated virus. Handle as a laboratory reagent and consult the linked SDS before use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the reconstituted protein.
