Scientific Background
Streptomyces hygroscopicus Bar Protein — also known as PPT N-acetyltransferase; Phosphinothricin N-acetyltransferase; Phosphinothricin-resistance protein; bar — Phosphinothricin N-acetyltransferase (PAT) is an enzyme that acetylates the free NH2 group of L-phosphinothricin (L-PPT) in the presence of acetyl-CoA as a co-substrate. It is highly specific for L-PPT and does not acetylate other L-amino acids or structurally similar molecules. L-PPT is a glutamate analog that can inhibit glutamine synthetase activity in plants, resulting in the accumulation of ammonia to toxic levels and impairment of photosynthesis. The introduction of a PAT gene into a plant genome can confer resistance to glufosinate herbicide during post-emergent applications.
Research into Streptomyces hygroscopicus Bar Protein supports investigations in cellular signaling and fundamental cell biology, with implications for cell signaling pathways.

This protein is produced in E. coli (prokaryotic). E. coli expression gives high yield without glycosylation — verify that your assay tolerates non-glycosylated protein.
Purity: > 95% as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE., confirmed by reducing SDS-PAGE. Endotoxin level: < 1.0 EU per μg of the protein as determined by the LAL method., measured by LAL assay — critical for cell-based studies. Identity is verified by peptide mapping or N-terminal sequencing on request.
Yes — biological activity is confirmed per lot. Activity data: Not validated for activity. Run a titration in your own system to establish optimal working concentration before committing all samples.
Reconstitution: Please refer to the printed manual for detailed information.. Storage: Generally, lyophilized proteins are stable for up to 12 months when stored at -20 to -80℃. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 4-8℃ for 2-. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw — each cycle risks partial denaturation.
This protein is validated for ELISA, Functional Assay (In Vitro). It is commonly used as an ELISA standard, binding partner in SPR/BLI, or stimulant in cell-based functional assays. Validate performance in your specific format before use in critical experiments.
