Compound Overview

RS100329 hydrochloride is a potent, selective α1A-adrenoceptor antagonist, with pKi values of 9.6, 7.9, and 7.5 for α1A, α1D, and α1B, respectively. It inhibits reflex urethral contractions and can be used to study benign prostatic hyperplasia[1][2]. It is supplied as a white to off-white solid (C20H26ClF3N4O3, MW 462.89) at 99.68% purity.

In Vitro

SolventSolubilityNotes
DMSO31.25 mg/mL (67.51 mM)requires sonication; use freshly opened DMSO (absorbed moisture lowers solubility)

Aliquot the stock solution and store it at -80°C (up to 6 months) or -20°C (up to 1 month); protect from light; avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Data provided by the manufacturer.

In Vitro

Contractions to Norepinephrine in human lower urinary tract (LUT) tissues are antagonized by RS100329 hydrochloride in a surmountable and concentration-dependent manner[2].

In Vivo

In Sprague Dawley rats, RS100329 hydrochloride (0.01-0.1 mg/kg; i.v.) lowers baseline urethral pressure and inhibits reflex urethral contractions[1].

Animal ModelSprague Dawley rats (300-390 g)[1]
Dosage0.01-0.1 mg/kg
AdministrationIntravenous injection
ResultCaused a fall in baseline urethral pressure reaching a maximum of 23%.
