Ruxolitinib is a selective inhibitor of Janus-associated kinases (JAK1 and JAK2), key mediators in cytokine signaling pathways. While primarily developed for hematologic malignancies and inflammatory disorders, Ruxolitinib has gained attention in neurodegenerative disease research due to its ability to modulate neuroinflammation. Dysregulated JAK/STAT signaling is implicated in several neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. By suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokine signaling, Ruxolitinib may reduce microglial activation and neuronal damage. Its potential to cross the blood-brain barrier further supports its exploration as a neuroprotective agent.
