SKA-31 is a pharmacological activator of intermediate-conductance (KCa3.1) and small-conductance (KCa2.x) calcium-activated potassium channels. It has demonstrated blood pressure-lowering effects in hypertensive models by enhancing endothelial function. Although primarily studied in cardiovascular research, SKA-31’s modulation of potassium channels may have implications in neurovascular health and neurodegenerative diseases. Potassium channel activation is associated with improved cerebral blood flow, reduced neuroinflammation, and neuroprotection, making SKA-31 a potential candidate for further exploration in neurological contexts.
