Overview
SMG8 Antibody / ABC2 / Nonsense-mediated mRNA decay factor SMG8 is an antibody targeting SMG8. Host: Rabbit. Polyclonal. Format: Lyophilized. Applications: WB, IHC, ICC/IF, FACS, ELISA.
Key elements and design rationale
- Target: SMG8.
- Immunogen: E.coli-derived human SMG8 recombinant protein (Position: D158-Y746) was used as the immunogen for the SMG8 antibody..
- Species reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat.
- Localization: Cytoplasmic, Nuclear.
- Conjugate: Unconjugated (no label listed).
Biological background (from provided description)
SMG8 antibody detects Nonsense-mediated mRNA decay factor SMG8, encoded by the SMG8 gene on chromosome 17p13.3. SMG8 antibody is widely used in research on mRNA surveillance, nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), and translation regulation. SMG8 is part of the NMD pathway, which eliminates mRNAs containing premature stop codons to prevent production of truncated or potentially harmful proteins.
Common research applications
- WB: relative abundance and band pattern assessment using appropriate controls.
- IHC: tissue distribution assessment; interpret with matched controls.
- IF/ICC: subcellular localization imaging with proper background controls.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Account for isoforms, paralogs, and post-translational modifications when interpreting signal.
- Support specificity with biological controls (e.g., KO/KD where available) and technical controls (e.g., secondary-only/isotype).
