SU1498 is a potent and selective inhibitor of Flk-1 (VEGFR2), a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in angiogenesis and vascular permeability. In neuroscience, SU1498 is used to study the role of VEGF signaling in neurovascular function, blood-brain barrier integrity, and neuroinflammation. VEGFR2 dysregulation is implicated in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and multiple sclerosis.
