Overview
Vascular endothelial growth inhibitor (VEGI), also known as TNF-like ligand 1A (TL1A) and TNF superfamily member 15 (TNFSF15), is protein that in humans is encoded by the TNFSF15 gene. TL1A/VEGI is an anti-angiogenic protein. It belongs to tumor necrosis factor (ligand) superfamily, where it is member 15. It is the sole known ligand for death receptor 3, and it can also be recognized by decoy receptor 3.
TL1A is abundantly expressed in endothelial cells, but is not expressed in either B or T cells. The expression of this protein is inducible by TNF-alpha and IL-1 alpha. This cytokine is a ligand for receptor TNFRSF25 (death receptor 3) and TNFRSF6B (decoy receptor 3). It can activate both the NF-κB and MAPK signalling pathways, and acts as an autocrine factor to induce apoptosis in endothelial cells. This cytokine is also found to inhibit endothelial cell proliferation, and thus may function as an angiogenesis inhibitor. [Wiki]
This anti-TL1A antibody is supplied as Purified (Mouse, Monoclonal (mouse origin), clone TLRM1-1, Mouse IgG1, kappa, Unconjugated) and is designed to support common target-detection workflows after the on-page specifications.
Key elements and design rationale
- Target: TL1A
- Format: Purified
- Localization: Cytoplasmic, cell surface, secreted
- Species reactivity: Human
- Applications (listed): IHC-P
- Conjugate: Unconjugated
- Clone and antibody class: Monoclonal (mouse origin), clone TLRM1-1, Mouse IgG1, kappa
Because antibody performance can depend on epitope context, sample preparation, and biological state, interpret signals using appropriate controls and orthogonal evidence when possible.
Biological background
TL1A is referenced in public gene/protein resources (e.g., UniProt and NCBI Gene), which provide curated names/synonyms, protein features, and pathway context. When designing assays, consider potential isoforms, post-translational modifications, and cell-type specific expression that may influence observed signal.
Research relevance and current trends
- Profiling TL1A expression across model systems, perturbations, and time points to support mechanistic hypotheses.
- Combining antibody-based detection with multi-omics or imaging readouts to link TL1A signal with phenotype.
- Using well-matched controls (isotype controls, genetic perturbations, or independent reagents) to strengthen interpretation of target-associated signal.
Common research applications
- IHC-P
Use the listed applications as a starting point and tailor experimental design to your sample type and readout requirements.
Notes for experimental interpretation
- Specificity considerations: closely related family members, isoforms, or PTMs can affect apparent specificity; confirm with independent approaches when critical.
- Controls: include negative controls and, when feasible, genetic or pharmacologic perturbations to support target attribution in your system.
- Species and sample context: differences in sequence, expression, fixation, or extraction conditions can change signal behavior across models.
