U-Blot® Phospho-AMPK alpha 2 (Ser345) Rabbit mAb is a recombinant monoclonal antibody raised in Rabbit that specifically recognizes Phospho-AMPK alpha 2 (Ser345) (Phosphorylation [Ser345]). It is designed for detection and analysis of the Phosphorylation [Ser345] post-translational modification across research applications.
AMPK is a highly conserved cellular energy-sensing protein kinase that plays a crucial role in maintaining energy homeostasis. It is composed of an alpha catalytic subunit, non-catalytic beta subunit, and gamma subunit, forming a heterotrimeric structure. This enzyme is widely present in animals and plants and is responsible for detecting changes in cellular energy levels. When cellular energy levels decrease, AMPK becomes activated. It phosphorylates and inhibits key enzymes such as acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and β-hydroxy-β methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR). ACC and HMGCR are critical enzymes involved in regulating the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol. Inhibiting these enzymes reduces lipid and cholesterol synthesis, thereby decreasing cellular energy consumption.
