Compound Overview
Xanthoangelol F is a prenylated (geranylated) chalcone with antibacterial activity that can be isolated from Angelica keiskei. It inhibits growth of the Gram-positive bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Micrococcus luteus, with an MIC of 64 μg/mL[1][2]. It has the molecular formula C26H30O4 and a molecular weight of 406.52 g/mol.

In Vitro
In the Staphylococcus aureus USA300-Phlam-GFP strain, Xanthoangelol F (20 μM) does not inhibit the SaeRS two-component system[1]. Xanthoangelol F (1-256 μg/mL; 48 h) suppresses growth of Gram-positive Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Micrococcus luteus at an MIC of 64 μg/mL, and is inactive against the Gram-negative bacteria tested[2].
