XAV939 is a small molecule inhibitor of tankyrase 1 and 2, enzymes that regulate the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway by promoting degradation of Axin. In neuroscience, XAV939 is used to modulate Wnt signaling, which plays a critical role in neurodevelopment, synaptic plasticity, and neurogenesis. Dysregulation of Wnt signaling has been linked to neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders. XAV939 provides a means to explore the therapeutic potential of Wnt pathway modulation in CNS disorders.
