Overview
What is 24 Well Glass Bottom Plates?
Product Overview
The Cellvis 24-well plate has a black frame with a lid and is intended for high resolution imaging, for example confocal microscopy. It is offered with #0 cover glass (0.085-0.115 mm, P24-0-N), #1.5 high performance cover glass (0.170 ± 0.005 mm, P24-1.5H-N) or a tissue culture treated #1.5 glass-like polymer coverslip (0.175 ± 0.010 mm, P24-1.5P).
Cellvis recommends the polymer coverslip format when better cell attachment is needed, and notes that it may be unsuitable where flatness across the whole plate is critical, for example whole plate auto-scan.
Key Features
- Suitable for long-term tissue culture
- Manufactured in a class 100,000 clean room

- Coverslip bonded to the plate with a USP class VI adhesive
- Sterilized by gamma radiation
- Conforms to ANSI/SBS 1-2004 standards
- Black frame, with lid
Imaging Compatibility
Cellvis lists the cover glass formats (P24-0-N, P24-1.5H-N) as suitable for all of the techniques below. The polymer coverslip format (P24-1.5P) is listed for the same techniques except Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF), for which it is not suitable.
- Differential Interference Contrast (DIC)
- Widefield Fluorescence
- Confocal Microscopy
- Two-Photon and Multiphoton Microscopy
- Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching (FRAP)
- Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)
- Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy (FLIM)
- Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF)
- Super-Resolution Microscopy
Cellvis recommends P24-1.5H-N for confocal microscopy and super-resolution microscopy, and P24-1.5P for confocal microscopy.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the three formats?
The coverslip. P24-0-N has #0 cover glass (0.085-0.115 mm), P24-1.5H-N has #1.5 high performance cover glass (0.170 ± 0.005 mm) and P24-1.5P has a tissue culture treated #1.5 glass-like polymer coverslip (0.175 ± 0.010 mm).
When should the polymer coverslip format be chosen?
Cellvis recommends P24-1.5P when better cell attachment is needed. It is not suitable for Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF), and Cellvis notes it may be unsuitable where flatness across the whole plate is critical, for example whole plate auto-scan.
What is the well bottom area and maximum volume?
The well bottom area is 190 mm² and the maximum volume is 3.6 ml.
What are the plate dimensions?
The plate is 127.50 mm long and 85.25 mm wide. It is 20 mm high, or 22.5 mm with the lid.
How many plates are in a case?
20 per case.

Research using this product
Every paper below mentions this product's catalogue number (or product name) in its full text — a text match, not a verified citation. Each entry shows what was measured, the sample type where the paper states it, and the sentence the catalogue number appears in, and a link to the figure showing that data — so you can confirm the use case before citing.
Auto-discovered from Europe PMC by manufacturer number / product name / keyword plus supplier. A match may reference a related product; confirm relevance before citing.
