What is 35 mm Glass Bottom Dishes?
Product Overview
Cellvis 35 mm glass bottom dishes have a micro-well with a coverslip bottom (cover glass, or glass-like polymer in the 1.5P formats). Cellvis lists all formats as suitable for confocal microscopy. They are offered with a 10 mm, 14 mm, 20 mm or 28 mm micro-well and with #0, #1 or #1.5 cover glass.
Additional formats: #1.5 gridded cover glass with the 14 mm micro-well (D35-14-1.5GI, D35-14-1.5GO), #1.5 high performance cover glass (0.170 ± 0.005 mm) with the 20 mm micro-well (D35-20-1.5H), and a #1.5 glass-like polymer coverslip (0.175 ± 0.010 mm) with the 14 mm or 20 mm micro-well (D35-14-1.5P, D35-20-1.5P). Cellvis recommends the polymer coverslip when better cell attachment is needed.
On the gridded dishes a 20 x 26 grid is etched onto the cover glass. On D35-14-1.5GI the grid is on the interior, so the grid and the cultured cells are on the same focal plane; on D35-14-1.5GO the grid is on the exterior, so they are on different focal planes.

Which micro-well sizes and coverslips are available?
10 mm, 14 mm, 20 mm and 28 mm micro-wells, each with #0 (0.085-0.115 mm), #1 (0.13-0.16 mm) or #1.5 (0.16-0.19 mm) cover glass. The 14 mm micro-well is also available with gridded #1.5 cover glass and with a #1.5 glass-like polymer coverslip; the 20 mm micro-well is also available with #1.5H cover glass (0.170 ± 0.005 mm) and with a #1.5 glass-like polymer coverslip.
What is the difference between D35-14-1.5GI and D35-14-1.5GO?
Both have a 20 x 26 grid (0.6 mm x 0.6 mm each) etched onto #1.5 cover glass. On D35-14-1.5GI the grid is on the interior of the cover glass, so the grid and the cultured cells are on the same focal plane. On D35-14-1.5GO the grid is on the exterior, so they are on different focal planes.
When should a polymer coverslip format be chosen?
Cellvis recommends D35-14-1.5P and D35-20-1.5P when better cell attachment is needed. They are not suitable for Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence (TIRF).
