Product Overview
Immortalized from African green monkey kidney, COS cells are fibroblast-like and constitutively express the SV40 large T antigen; plasmids carrying the SV40 origin of replication can therefore replicate episomally inside them. That property explains their broad use for transient gene expression, recombinant protein production, and molecular, biochemical, and cell biology studies of many kinds. Of the derivatives of the original COS cell line, COS-1 and COS-7 are the two seen most often, and GenJet™ DNA In Vitro Transfection Reagent for COS Cells comes tuned for both, delivering DNA into COS-1 and COS-7 cells at high efficiency.
