Product Overview
Feeder layers that support the growth and maintenance of undifferentiated embryonic stem (ES) cells and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells are commonly built from mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs). Isolated from mouse embryos, these primary fibroblasts are normally put to work at early passage numbers, and before serving as feeders they are usually arrested by irradiation or by mitomycin C treatment so that proliferation stops while their supportive functions carry on. Primary cells of this kind have a reputation for being hard to transfect.
GenJet™ DNA In Vitro Transfection Reagent for Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts (MEFs) arrives pre-optimized and conditioned for plasmid DNA delivery into MEFs, and SignaGen credits its proprietary transfection chemistry plus an optimized protocol with taking the reagent as high as 85% GFP-positive cells under optimized conditions.
