Product Overview
Efficient siRNA delivery into mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) is what GenMute™ siRNA Transfection Reagent for MEFs was optimized to achieve. A frequent role for MEFs is as feeder cells, sustaining undifferentiated mouse or human embryonic stem (ES) cells and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. Taken from mouse embryos and usually kept at early passages, they contribute the growth factors and extracellular support such cultures require.
Irradiation, or treatment with mitomycin C, arrests their growth ahead of feeder-layer use, halting division yet leaving the supportive functions intact.
