Product Overview
Primary and cultured smooth muscle cells take up siRNA efficiently with GenMute™ siRNA Transfection Reagent for Smooth Muscle Cells (SMC), which comes pre-optimized for them. Residing in hollow-organ and blood vessel walls, smooth muscle cells carry essential roles in setting vascular tone, blood pressure, and organ contractility. Their low proliferation rate and their sensitivity to cytotoxic reagents nonetheless leave SMCs hard to transfect by conventional means.
High uptake of siRNA together with minimal toxicity opens up gene silencing work spanning vascular biology, cardiovascular disease, airway function, and in vitro smooth muscle physiology.
