At the DNA replication fork, the replicative DNA helicase (DnaB in E. coli) unwinds double-stranded DNA and bacterial DNA primase (DnaG) makes the RNA primers. Primases from Gram-negative bacteria (e.g. E. coli and H. influenzae) are strongly stimulated by DNA helicases, while those from Gram-positive bacteria (S. aureus and S. pneumoniae) are not.
This product is the H. influenzae DnaG primase-DnaB helicase complex.
