Western blot testing of human samples using the RPN1 antibody at 1:3000 dilution for 1 hour at room temperature. A predominant band is detected at an approximately 68 kDa in all samples, consistent with the mature N-glycosylated ER membrane protein ribophorin I described in the literature. Additional weaker bands between roughly 50 and 60 kDa, likely represent truncated or processed RPN1 species generated during normal ER associated degradation rather than distinct full length isoforms.

Western blot analysis of K27-linkage Specific Ubiquitin expression in human HeLa cell lysate using K27-linkage Specific Ubiquitin antibody. A strong band near ~20 kDa in HeLa lysate is detected, corresponding to K27-linked di-ubiquitin. Although the UBB and UBC precursors have predicted masses of ~26 kDa and ~77 kDa, they are rapidly processed into monomeric and short polyubiquitin chains in cells; K27-linked Ub2 species are therefore the predominant form detected under standard conditions.
Target: K27-LINKAGE

About Recombinant Antibodies

Recombinant antibodies are monoclonal antibodies whose heavy- and light-chain sequences are cloned and expressed in defined cell lines (CHO or HEK), rather than produced from a hybridoma or animal serum. Because the sequence is archived, every lot is identical, production is animal-free, and supply does not depend on a cell line or host animal — the format of choice when reproducibility and long-term availability matter most.

Choosing an antibody format: Recombinant vs Monoclonal vs Polyclonal

Recombinant antibodies sit at the reproducibility end of the spectrum. Use the table to weigh them against conventional monoclonal and polyclonal formats.

AttributePolyclonalMonoclonalRecombinant
SpecificityModerate-high - multi-epitopeHigh - single epitopeHigh - single defined epitope
Batch consistencyLow-moderateHighHighest - sequence-defined
Cross-reactivity riskHigher - multiple clonesLowLow
Animal-freeNoPartialYes - fully animal-free
Supply continuityLimited - animal & lot dependentGood - cell-line dependentExcellent - sequence archived
Best forLow-abundance / denatured targetsValidated, reproducible assaysLong-term reproducibility & supply
How to read this: choose recombinant when lot-to-lot consistency, animal-free sourcing, or guaranteed supply are priorities; a conventional monoclonal or polyclonal antibody may be more economical for routine or exploratory work. For the full decision framework, see the antibody format comparison guide.
